Bridge Lesson: Magic and Theurgy
Magic
(See “The Magical Power of Prayer,” chapter “Prayer, Magic, and Power”) (See “Lecture notes on Natural Medicine”, chapter “Theurgy with Internal Elementaries”) (See “Logos, Mantra, Theurgy,” chapter “Theurgy”)
- Magic is the art of influencing the higher dimensions in order to crystallize some desired result.
- Magic is a natural skill that every person can practice, as long as they know how.
- To practice magic one needs: To know how to consciously handle his energy. To know the rituals of magic (prayers, mantras, names of hierarchies, practices, etc.)
- There are two types of magic: White magic o It is also called Theurgy. o In white magic, the Theurgist is our Being, our inner God. o In every practice of theurgy, the officiant first invokes his Being and asks him to perform the desired magical work. o In Theurgy we work with the Divine Beings of the higher worlds (Masters, Angels, Archangels, etc.) Black magic o It is also called Charm or Necromancy. o In black magic, the officiant is the “ego” of the person who practices it. o In black magic they invoke the dark entities of the lower worlds and end up enslaved by them.
- Some uses of theurgy: Cleansing Protection Therapy Communication with higher beings Modification of events on the physical plane
The Characteristics of Theurgy
Chastity
- Magic is based on the use of our energy. A man who has a lot of energy, even unconsciously practices magic.
- The purer a person is, the more powerful and pure his energy is to practice theurgy. This means that in order to become a magician one must not lose his sexual energy, nor “waste” it through identification, negative emotions, negative thoughts, etc.
- Furthermore, for this reason we need to do some purifications on a physical-energetic level, so that our body is a suitable vehicle for practicing theurgy. i.e. herbal baths. i.e. use of fragrances from essential oils that raise the vibration of the body. i.e. detoxification for the liver, for the blood, for the digestive system, etc.
Speech
- The theurgist exercises his authority through speech. i.e. using invocations, conjurations, mantras, etc.
- The more someone is careful of his word, the more power he can wield through it. This means not uttering bad words, gossip, hurtful words, jokes with innuendo, unnecessary speech, etc. Any misuse of speech degrades sexual energy and reduces magical powers.
- Through the power of the Verb, the theurgist can crystallize what he says.
Solar Faith
- Faith is not the same as beliefs. Belief is to “believe” in something you do not know. o Beliefs come from the intermediate mind. Faith is to know something with certainty. o Faith comes from the esoteric mind.
- The opposite of faith is doubt. Faith belongs to the Consciousness. Doubt belongs to the mind.
- Faith grows through study and experience. At first one begins to know through study and this gives him a small degree of faith. Then, as he practices what he has learned and begins to see results, these experiences strengthen his faith.
- Faith is a magical force that has great power. When a theurgist goes to perform a magical work, he does not think or doubt. He simply performs the magical work with the faith (certainty) that the result will crystallize.
Control over the 4 Elements
- For a theurgist to have the power to control the elements in the external world, he must first be able to control his internal elements.
- Each element has its own requirements, and we need to impose certain disciplines on ourselves.
- Earth: to be active and stable. not to be lazy.
- Water: to be chaste and adapt. not to give in to passion and negative emotions.
- Air: to be intuitive. not to allow negative thoughts and rationalization.
- Fire: to face things with serenity and understanding. not to react with anger and arrogance.
- Ether: to work on the transmutation of sexual energies.
Placement
- A theurgist is a person who knows how to relate correctly to himself. This means consciously, without identifying with things, with what others say, with what is happening in society, etc.
- When someone goes to carry out a theurgical work, the first thing he must do is to place himself here and now, within his body, within himself, in a third state of Consciousness.
- The true theurgist is the Being, while the human is simply the vehicle.
Therefore, in every theurgical work, we unite with our Being and ask it to express itself and bring about the magical result we want.
- Magic is a force that, although we do not see it, we feel it.
- It has to do with what we feel and not with what we think.
The Formalities of Magic
- Magic has its formalities. These formalities multiply its power and results. For example, someone could remove negative forces only with the power of their will and faith, but if they use the appropriate ritual (in this case a conjuration) the effect will be more powerful.
- Various formalities of magic: Specific words or mantra. o e.g. there are magic formulas of conjuration, invocations, etc. Specific objects. o e.g. a man in many works of theurgy may use a sword, while a woman may use a cedar wand. o e.g. talismans for protection (pentagram), for power over the elementals (six-pointed star), etc. Specific time at which it is performed. o e.g. some works of theurgy must be performed on a specific day of the week or a specific time or in a specific phase of the moon, etc.
Works of Theurgy
- In the Bridge lessons we will specifically study three works of magic: Conjuration of the Four Elements (to remove the negative side of the elements and invoke the positive one). Conjuration of the Seven Genies (to remove the dark forces). Invocation of Solomon the Wise (to invoke the powers of the higher planes).
We should explain to the individuals that before any work in the Second Chamber, the Conjuration of the Four Elements, the Conjuration of the Seven Genies and the Invocation of Solomon the Wise are performed to prepare the atmosphere.
Conjuration of the Four Elements
- With the Conjuration of the Four Elements we subdue the competitive side of the elements and invoke the higher side. To the elements that are outside (in the place we are in). To the elements that are inside us.
We should say that in the Lumisial it is not necessary to know the conjurations by heart. We just need to repeat them mentally with concentration.
- Each one of us can also use the conjurations in their personal life when needed. e.g. we can do them when we feel that the atmosphere is heavy or when there is something negative in our aura. e.g. we can do them before going to sleep. Of course, we shouldn’t do them in front of people who don’t know and who will be surprised or misunderstand us, since that would be a lack of respect for them, as well as a lack of introspection.
Conjuration of the 7 Genies
(See “Esoteric Treatise on Theurgy”)
- The Conjuration of the Seven Genies removes the dark forces. The ones that are outside (in the place where we are). The ones inside (related to our egos).
- To understand the structure of this conjuration we need to know about planetary Logos and the rays of the planets.
- The Planetary Logos Every planet is a living being. It has a body which is the planetary mass we see on the physical plane. He also has a Spirit, which is the intelligence at the center of the planet: his Divine Verb.
- The Rays of the planets. Each planet has a ray that has a very great influence on our lives. Each ray has one positive and one negative aspect. The Divine Verb and the Divine Hierarchies of each planet govern the positive aspect of its radius. Similarly, there are dark hierarchies that govern the negative aspect of the radius from each planet.
| Planet | Governs | Positive Side | Negative Side |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturn / Orifiel | Death, Agriculture, Property | Wisdom, Worship, Serenity | Fear, Depression, Materialism |
| Jupiter / Zachariel | Justice, Economy, Religion, Philosophy | Altruism, Philanthropy | Tyranny, Injustice, Profiteering |
| Mars / Samael | War, Army, Police | Strength, Will | Anger, Quarrels, Violence |
| Sun / Michael | High offices, Social status | Faith, Mysticism | Pride, Arrogance |
| Venus / Uriel | Love, Marriage, Arts | Chastity, Love | Lust, Passion |
| Mercury / Raphael | Mind, Science, Medicine, Communication | Intelligence, Transmutation | Intellectualism, Identification |
| Moon / Gabriel | Family, Conception, Birth, Kids | Joy, Innocence | Mechanicity |
The Pentagram
(See “The Perfect Matrimony”, chapter “The Five-Point Star”)
- The Pentagram is a very important esoteric symbol. When it points upwards it symbolizes the Man, the self-realized Being, and it has the power to scare and drive away the dark forces. When it points downwards it symbolizes the man who is falling to the abyss and attracts the dark forces.
- We can use it for protection: As a talisman around our neck (without being visible). As a picture in a glass frame. Painted with gold on marble.
- It is especially good to have it on the wall above our heads where we sleep or above doors or windows to prevent the entry of negative forces.
- If we have a small altar in our home, we can also have it there as one of its objects, as a symbol of protection, power and strength.
- Of course, we must be careful not to have it in places where people who may misunderstand will see it, so that we do not have unnecessary conflicts with other people and do not desecrate sacred symbols.
- By performing the Microcosmic Star with concentration, we crystallize the form of the Pentagram in our aura so that it provides us with protection.
To show people how to do the Microcosmic Star. We can especially do it before going to sleep or before meditation.
- Furthermore, the mantra Klim Krishnaya Govindaya Gopijana Vallabhaya Swaha have the power to form the Pentagram internally, on the Astral plane. With KLIM we attract Christic energy which comes down to protect us. With KRISHNAYA GOVINDAYA GOPIJANA-VALLABHAYA the Christic energy unites with us. With SWAHA we powerfully radiate the Christic energy.

Guided Practice: “The Magic of Love”
- At the end of the lesson we will do:
- The TIR-BAR Runes.
- The Microcosmic Star.
- A guided meditation practice.
- First, we all do the TIR-BAR Runes together 7 times.
- Then we all do the Microcosmic Star together.
- Then we sit for the meditation practice.
- We take a few deep breaths, relax, empty the mind, etc.
- We concentrate on our heart, slowly saying the Our Father, while people repeat it mentally.
- We ask our Being and our Divine Mother to fill our heart with love, peace and light.
- We visualize this power of love as a blue light that starts from our heart and expands, covering our entire body, then the entire room, the entire area, the city, the country, the continent, until it covers the entire Earth. This blue light goes to the heart of every person and gives them happiness, love, health, peace, harmony, thirst for spirituality. Finally, we repeat 3 times the words of Radiation of Love: “May all beings be happy, may all beings be blissful, may all beings be at peace.”
- We remain in silence and peace for a while.
- The practice will last for about 30 minutes (without the Rune)
