Cabeiri

[Cabiri, Kabeiroi, Kabirs] “The eight Kabirs, those powerful, semitic, ineffable, and terribly divine Gods (who were later worshiped by the Greeks and Romans, and whose principal sanctuary was found always in Samothrace) are intimately related with the holy eight, with the sacred symbol of the infinite. The eight Kabirs are the children of Ephestus or Vulcan and an adorable daughter of Proteus. They were born from the sacred fire (that manifests itself within the terrible profundities of the Earth) by the forging action of Proteus upon that universal substance that naturally has the property of taking any form. These eight Kabirs are the fundamental intelligences of this Nature. They are the extraordinary regents of the great mysteries of life and death. Caduceus of Mercury

From Latin caduceus, alteration of Doric Greek karykeion “herald’s staff.”

“The Caduceus of Mercury symbolizes the spinal medulla with its two serpents representing the canals of Ida and Pingala through which solar and lunar atoms ascend to the brain… [In men] Ida rises from the base of the spinal column to the left of Sushumna and Pingala to the right. These positions are reversed in the woman. The cords end in the medulla oblongata. All this is symbolized by the Caduceus of Mercury with its two spread wings. The two wings of the Caduceus of Mercury signify the power to travel in the Astral Body, the power to travel in the Mental Body, the power to travel in the Causal, Conscious and Spiritual vehicles. The Fire gives those who follow the Path of the Razor’s Edge the power to leave the Physical Body at will. Kundalini has the power of awakening the Consciousness of the human being. We remain completely awakened in the Superior Worlds with the Fire. All those who have awakened in the Superior Worlds live absolutely conscious outside of the Physical Body during the hours of sleep. Whosoever awakens the Consciousness can never again dream. Cagliostro

“This man of indescribable age is a true master who has the Elixir of Longevity. No one can attain this elixir without having worked with the Arcanum A.Z.F… “Cagliostro practised sexual magic intensely. Cagliostro was a disciple of Count St. Germain. Cagliostro was an alchemist; he transmuted the lead into gold and made genuine diamonds. “This master was known in the distinct places of the world, under different names in different countries. He was known with the following names: Tis-chio, Milissa, Belonte, D’anna, Fenix, Pellegrini, Balsamo, Mesmer, Harut, and Cagliostro. This famous historical lineage was recorded by Alexandre Dumas in his work entitled, The Queen’s Necklace. “Ragon commits the crime of slandering the Great Copto. Eliphas Levi also slanders the Count Cagliostro by accusing him of being a black magician. “The Great Copto lived with the famous Schrader of Germany, and in England with the illustrious theosophist George Coston. Cagliostro saved the life of the Cardinal Archbishop of Rohan with the science of the Philosophical Stone. “The Baroness of Oberkirch said the following of the Great Copto, “He was not absolutely beautiful but I never saw such equalled features. His sight, more than profound, was supernatural. The expression of his eyes was indescribable, with an equal quality of fire and ice, together influencing in an irresistible way, sometimes attracting, sometimes repelling.” “Cagliostro had many alchemist disciples in Strasbourg. “He was judged and persecuted by the Inquisition, sent into the bastille, and later into the fortress of Leone. The Inquisition condemned him to death, but the enigmatic and powerful Count Cagliostro mysteriously disappeared from the prison. Death could not do anything to Cagliostro. “Cagliostro is still alive with the same physical body because when a master has swallowed soil within his sepulchre, he is lord of the living and of the dead.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Aquarian Message

The “divine” Cagliostro, one moment the idol of Paris, the next a lonely prisoner in a dungeon of the Inquisition, passed like a meteor across the face of France. According to his memoirs written by him during his confinement in the Bastille, Alessandro Cagliostro was born in Malta of a noble but unknown family. He was reared and educated in Arabia under the tutelage of Altotas, a man well versed in several branches of philosophy and science and also a master of the transcendental arts. While Cagliostro’s biographers generally ridicule this account, they utterly fail to advance in its stead any logical solution for the source of his magnificent store of arcane knowledge. Branded as an impostor and a charlatan, his miracles declared to be legerdemain, and his very generosity suspected of an ulterior motive, the Comte di Cagliostro is undoubtedly the most calumniated man in modem history. “The mistrust,” writes W. H. K. Trowbridge, “that mystery and magic always inspire made Cagliostro with his fantastic personality an easy target for calumny. After having been riddled with abuse till he was unrecognizable, prejudice, the foster child of calumny, proceeded to lynch him, so to speak. For over one hundred years his character has dangled on the gibbet of infamy, upon which the sbirri of tradition have inscribed a curse on any one who shall attempt to cut him down. His fate has been his fame. He is remembered in history, not so much for anything he did, as for what was done to him.” (See Cagliostro, the Splendour and Misery of a Master of Magic.) According to popular belief Cagliostro’s real name was Giuseppe Balsamo, and he was a Sicilian by birth. Within recent years, however, doubts have arisen as to whether this belief is in accord with the facts. It may yet be proved that in part, at least, the tirades of abuse heaped upon the unfortunate Comte have been directed against the wrong man. Giuseppe Balsamo was born in 1743 of honest but humble parentage. From boyhood he exhibited selfish, worthless, and even criminal tendencies, and after a series of escapades disappeared. Trowbridge(loc. cit.) presents ample proof that Cagliostro was not Giuseppe Balsamo, thus disposing of the worst accusation against him. After six months’ imprisonment in the Bastille, on his trial Cagliostro was exonerated from any implication in the theft of the famous “Queen’s Necklace,” and later the fact was established that he had actually warned Cardinal de Rohan of the intended crime. Despite the fact, however, that he was discharged as innocent by the French trial court, a deliberate effort to vilify Cagliostro was made by an artist—more talented than intelligent—who painted a picture showing him holding the fatal necklace in his hand. The trial of Cagliostro has been called the prologue of the French Revolution. The smoldering animosity against Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI engendered by this trial later burst forth as the holocaust of the Reign of Terror. In his brochure, Cagliostro and His Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry, Henry R. Evans also ably defends this much persecuted man against the infamies so unjustly linked with his name. Sincere investigators of the facts surrounding the life and mysterious “death” of Cagliostro are of the opinion that the stories circulated against him may be traced to the machinations of the Inquisition, which in this manner sought to justify his persecution. The basic charge against Cagliostro was that he had attempted to found a Masonic lodge in Rome—nothing more. All other accusations are of subsequent date. For some reason undisclosed, the Pope commuted Cagliostro’s sentence of death to perpetual imprisonment. This act in itself showed the regard in which Cagliostro was held even by his enemies. While his death is believed to have occurred several years later in an Inquisitional dungeon in the castle of San Leo, it is highly improbable that such was the case. There are rumors that he escaped, and according to one very significant story Cagliostro fled to India, where his talents received the appreciation denied them in politics-ridden Europe. After creating his Egyptian Rite, Cagliostro declared that since women had been admitted into the ancient Mysteries there was no reason why they should be excluded from the modem orders. The Princesse de Lamballe graciously accepted the dignity of Mistress of Honor in his secret society, and on the evening of her initiation the most important members of the French court were present. The brilliance of the affair attracted the attention of the Masonic lodges in Paris. Their representatives, in a sincere desire to understand the Masonic Mysteries, chose the learned orientalist Court de Gébelin as their spokesman, and invited Comte di Cagliostro to attend a conference to assist in clearing up a number of important questions concerning Masonic philosophy. The Comte accepted the invitation. On May 10, 1785, Cagliostro attended the conference called for that purpose, and his power and simplicity immediately won for him the favorable opinion of the entire gathering. It took but a few words for the Court de Gébelin to discover that he was talking not only to a fellow scholar but to a man infinitely his superior. Cagliostro immediately presented an address, which was so unexpected, so totally different from anything ever heard before by those assembled, that all were speechless with amazement. Cagliostro declared the Rose-Cross to be the ancient and true symbol of the Mysteries and, after a brief description of its original symbolism, branched out into a consideration of the symbolic meaning of letters, predicting to the assembly the future of France in a graphic manner that left no room for doubt that the speaker was a man of insight and supernatural power. With a curious arrangement of the letters of the alphabet, Cagliostro foretold in detail the horrors of the coming revolution and the fall of the monarchy, describing minutely the fate of the various members of the royal family. He also prophesied the advent of Napoleon and the rise of the First Empire. All this he did to demonstrate that which can be accomplished by superior knowledge. Later when arrested and sent to the Bastille, Cagliostro wrote on the wall of his cell the following cryptic message which, when interpreted, reads: “In 1789 the besieged Bastille will on July 14th be pulled down by you from top to bottom.” Cagliostro was the mysterious agent of the Knights Templars, the Rosicrucian initiate whose magnificent store of learning is attested by the profundity of the Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry. Thus Comte di Cagliostro remains one of the strangest characters in history—believed by his friends to have lived forever and to have taken part in the marriage feast of Cana, and accused by his enemies of being the Devil incarnate! His powers of prophecy are ably described by Alexandre Dumas in The Queen’s Necklace. The world he sought to serve in his own strange way received him not, but has followed with relentless persecution down through the centuries even the very memory of this illustrious adept who, unable to accomplish the great labor at hand, stepped aside in favor of his more successful compatriot, the Comte de St-Germain. - Manly P. Caiaphas

The high priest of the Christian gospels who pushed for the crucifixion of Jesus. He symbolizes the demon of evil-will, one of the three traitors within us who betrays the inner Christ. “The multiple psychic aggregates within our psychological depths scream for the crucifixion of the Innermost Lord. Without a question, each of us carries three traitors within our psyches: Judas, the demon of desire; Pilate, the demon of the mind; and Caiaphas, the demon of evil will. Cain

( Hebrew קין) Kain, Qayin or Kayin. Son of Adam and Eve. The name Kahyin literally means, “to possess.” Cain, like all esoteric symbols, carries different meanings.

Thus the name (Cain) in the Book of Genesis is a descriptive appellation to Alchemists.

Cancer (illness)

(June 21 to July 22) The fourth sign of the zodiac. Ruled by the moon and related to the element water.

Cathexis

A term commonly used by Sigmund Freud that refers to the psychic (sexual) energy invested in any particular mental formation.

“The psychic energy, cathexis, processing itself as an executive force, is formidable. The reserves of intelligence are the different parts of the Being and are denominated as bound cathexis or psychic energy in a potential and static state. The bound cathexis orients us in the work related with the disintegration of the ego and with the liberation of the mind. The bound cathexis, contained within the mind, guides us in the work related with Revolutionary Psychology and with Integral Revolution. The values of the Being constitute the bound cathexis. Only the bound cathexis can liberate the mind through the disintegration of the undesirable psychic elements which have been segregated by means of structural and transactional analysis. Bound cathexis is different from loose cathexis, since the latter is the psychic energy which the ego utilizes to dominate the mind and the body for its manifestation. We have to permit the bound cathexis (which is the dynamic psychic energy) to be the one to direct our existence. We have to work psychologically in order for the bound cathexis to enter into activity to dominate and govern the free cathexis. (Latin) “Cause of causes.”

Causal Body

The Body of Conscious Will, related to the sephirah Tiphereth and the Human Soul. Causal World

The World of Causality or Conscious Will, which is related to the Sephirah Tiphereth in the region of the sixth dimension.

Cellular Region

The physical world (1st-3rd dimensions) “All the planes of existence mentioned by Theosophy may be perfectly synthesized in four regions: Hell, Earth, Paradise, and Heaven. Centers, Seven

The human being has seven centers of psychological activity. The first five are the Intellectual, Emotional, Motor, Instinctive and Sexual Centers. However, through inner development one learns how to utilize the Superior Emotional and Superior Intellectual Centers. Most people do not use these two at all. “Each one of these five centers penetrates the entire organism; nonetheless, if one Self-observes profoundly, one becomes aware that each one of the centers has a central, basic point situated at a specific area of our organic machine. The center of gravity of the intellect is found in the brain. The center of gravity of emotions is situated in the solar plexus. The center of gravity of movement is situated in the superior part of the dorsal spine. The center of gravity of instinct is found in the inferior part of the dorsal spine. The center of gravity of sex clearly has its roots in the sexual organs. Each one of the centers of the “machine” has absolutely defined specific functions.” - Samael Aun Weor

Chac-Mool

The Mayan God of rain, thunder, and abundance. This deity is seen carved on the footsteps of temples in a position that is useful for Astral travel . This is the Mayan deity associated with the Third Logos or Holy Spirit. It is the Mayan equivalent of Tlaloc. See: Tlaloc.

Chaitanya

(or Caitanya; from Sanskrit) Awakened Consciousness .

Chakra

(Sanskrit) Literally, “wheel.” The chakras are subtle centers of energetic transformation. There are hundreds of chakras in our multi-dimensional physiology, but seven primary ones related to the awakening of Consciousness .

Chambers

We use this word in two primary ways. 1. Each vertebra of the spinal column can be referred to as a chamber. 2. In all ancient spiritual traditions, there are three levels of help and instruction. They have been known by many names, but generally can be defined as (1) public instruction (exoteric), (2) private instruction (mesoteric), and (3) secret instruction (esoteric). First Chamber is the public, introductory teaching. Second Chamber is for those who have committed themselves to Chastity and the death of the ego ; Second Chamber is kept secret as it is a sacred and profound trust. Third Chamber is an even more advanced level of help, which is also kept hermetically sealed. These Three Chambers reflect the universal nature of all true initiatic colleges: in Egypt the initiates of each level were called (1) Apprentice, (2) Journeyman or Craftsman, and (3) Master. In Tibet, the same system is preserved. It is important to note that Samael Aun Weor emphasized the necessity for the Three Chamber system and any school that does not maintain this structure is lacking the connection to the Logos Samael. Only those institutions who maintain the Chambers can be said to be true Gnostic Schools, wherever they may be.

Channelers, Channeling, and Mediumism

In the 1840s in upstate New York arose a belief that it is possible to communicate with the spirits of the dead. Sessions (séances) were held by “mediums” (intermediaries) who would “channel” to convey information back and forth. The primary influences and methods of this system were derived from Mesmer and hypnotism, with techniques that manipulate the sleeping consciousness. This has led to modern “channelers” who continue the tradition and are very skillful at fooling themselves and others.

“On one occasion, we visited a spiritual temple; we then saw how a demon entered into a medium and while passing as Jesus Christ , he spoke filled with sweetness and all the listeners, full of a terrible fanaticism, worshipped him. This is what the spiritism or spiritualism is: black magic; this is the abyss… “Numerous people with mediumistic faculties exist within multitudes of spiritualist temples, where multitudes of impostors manifest through the mediumistic faculties of these “channellers.” All of them claim to be “channeling” Jesus Christ and the wretched people firmly believe in such imposters. Chaos

(Greek χάος ) khaos “abyss, that which gapes wide open, is vast and empty.” There are three primary applications of this term. “The first Chaos from which the cosmos emerged is between the Sephiroth Binah and Chesed . The second Chaos, from where the fundamental principles of the human being emerged, exists within Yesod -Mercury, which is the sexual human center. The third Chaos, the Infernal Worlds, exists below the Thirteenth Aeons in the region of Klipoth, in the underworld.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Pistis Sophia Unveiled The abyss (not the inferior abyss), or the “Great Deep.” Personified as the Egyptian Goddess Neith. The Great Mother, the Immaculate Virgin from which arises all matter. The Chaos is WITHIN the Ain Soph. The primitive state of the universe. Esoterically, a reference to the semen , both in the microcosm and the macrocosm. Charity

Sacrifice for suffering humanity. Loving-kindness towards all beings. One of the three primary factors for spiritual development.

“Charity is a matter of common sense. To give food to the hungry is something very humane, because even the prisoners have to eat, otherwise they would die of hunger. To give drink to the thirsty is something very logical, since it would be cruel to deny a glass of water to a thirsty person. To give a shirt to the naked is something very natural; to console the afflicted one is very humane; so, we do not needed judges for that. Nevertheless, it would be an absurdity to give alcohol to the drunkard, or to lend a weapon to an assassin. Love is law, but love with cognizance!” - Samael Aun Weor, Beyond Death

( Hebrew ) According to Kabbalah , a being related to the sephirah Chesed , equivilent to the Christian hierarchical levels of “Dominions” and “Powers.”

Chavajoth

“Chavajoth directs the negative ray of the Moon… Chavajoth has a physical body. Chavajoth is now reincarnated in Germany; he poses as a war veteran and works for the Great Black Lodge. In the inner worlds, the black magician Chavajoth dresses in a red tunic and wears a red turban. This demon cultivates the mysteries of black Sexual Magic in a tenebrous cavern. In relation with our personal psychology, Chavajoth, Chavayoth, or Chavayot is Kabbalistically read Chava- Iod ; this means that Chava (the female power of the Holy Spirit - Eve, “the Mother of the Living” - the sexual organs) is through Fornication rebelling against the “ Iod ” (the male willpower of the Holy Spirit in the pineal gland of Adam, the brain). Chenresi

(Tibetan sPyan-ras-gzigs) Literally, “looking with clear eyes.” The Tibetan equivalent of Avalokita (Avalokiteshvara). An embodiment of the compassion of the Gods: in other words, the Cosmic Christ. Chenresi is the patron deity of Tibet. Most commonly depicted as standing with one-thousand arms reaching out to aid suffering beings in all the worlds. His sacred mantra is Om Mani Padme Hum. Do not confuse this name with Cherenzi. Samael Aun Weor mentioned “the black Cherenzi” in reference to a person who called himself “Cherenzi” but was teaching black Tantra .

Cherubim

Chitra Nadi

“Within this Sushumna there is a Nadi by name Vajra which is lustrous as Surya (sun) with Rajasic qualities. Again within this Vajra Nadi, there is another Nadi, called Chitra. It is of Sattvic nature and of pale colour. The qualities of Agni, Surya and Chandra (fire, sun and moon) are the three aspects of Sabda Brahman. Here within this Chitra, there is a very fine minute canal (which is known as Canalis Centralis). This canal is known as Brahmanadi through which Kundalini , when awakened, passes from Muladhara to Sahasrara Chakra. In this centre exist all the six Chakras (lotuses, viz., Muladhara, Svadhishthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha and Ajna). The lower extremity of the Chitra Nadi is called Brahmadvara, the door of Brahman, as Kundalini has to pass through this door to Brahmarandhra. Chitra is the highest and most beloved of the Yogins. It is like a thin thread of lotus. Brilliant with five colours, it is in the centre of Sushumna. It is the most vital part of the body. This is called the Heavenly way. It is the giver of Immortality. By contemplating on the Chakras that exist in this Nadi, the Yogi destroys all sins and attains the Highest Bliss. Chitta

(Sanskrit चित्त) This Sanskrit word has a huge varieties of meanings in Asian traditions, so the precise meaning can varying depending upon the context in which it is used. In general use, it refers to “mind.” Literal meanings include “wish, thought, ninth mansion, thinking, aim, intention, reason, observing, imagining, intelligence, mind, reflecting, attending, memory, heart, knowledge.” “Chitta is the sub-conscious mind. It has two layers. One layer for emotion and the other for passive memory. The instinctive mind is the lower nature of human beings. It is the desire-mind or Kama Manas. The spiritual mind is the higher Manas. The seat of the mind is the heart. The mind connected to the Somachakra of the lowermost portion or under-surface of the brain is termed the organ of understanding. By Manonasa or annihilation of the mind is meant the destruction or dissolution of the lower nature, desire-mind. Sankhya Buddhi or Buddhi in the light of Sankhya philosophy is will and intellect combined. Mind is microcosm. Mind is Maya. Also in the Gita, Lord Krishna uses the term Chitta in various places. “Chitta is a separate faculty or category in Vedanta. Sometimes it is Antargata, comes under Mind. In Sankhya philosophy, it is included in Buddhi or Mahat-Tattva. The Chitta of Patanjali Rishi’s philosophy of Raja Yoga (Yogas-chittavritti-nirodhah) corresponds to the Antahkarana of Vedanta. “Subconscious mind is termed ‘Chitta’ in Vedanta. Much of your subconsciousness consists of submerged experiences, memories thrown into the background but recoverable. The Chitta is like a calm lake and thoughts are like waves upon the surface of this lake and name and form are the normal ways in which these waves rise. No wave can rise without name and form. “The functions of the Chitta are Smriti or Smarana, Dharana, attention and Anusandhana (enquiry or investigation). When you repeat the Japa of a Mantra, it is the Chitta that does the Smarana. It does a lot of work. Chittakasha

Chnouphis

Also variously as Chnubis, Chnoubis, etc. A symbolic figure found in Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Gnostic traditions with a variety of forms and appearances.

“In old Egypt, the God Nahbkoon, “he who unites the doubles,” (astral light re-uniting by its dual physiological and spiritual potency the divine human to its purely divine Monad, the prototype “in heaven” or Nature) was represented as a serpent on human legs, either with or without arms. It was the emblem of the resurrection of Nature, as also of Christ with the Ophites, and of Jehovah as the brazen serpent healing those who looked at him; the serpent being an emblem of Christ with the Templars also, (see the Templar degree in Masonry). The symbol of Knouph (Khoum also), or the soul of the world, says Champollion (Pantheon, text 3), “is represented among other forms under that of a huge serpent on human legs; this reptile, being the emblem of the good genius and the veritable Agathodaemon, is sometimes bearded.” The sacred animal is thus identical with the serpent of the Ophites, and is figured on a great number of engraved stones, called Gnostic or Basilidean gems. This symbol is identical with one which, according to Jamblichus and Champollion, was called “the first of the celestial gods”; the God Hermes, or Mercury with the Greeks, to which God Hermes Trismegistos attributes the invention of, and the first initiation of men into, magic; and Mercury is Budh, Wisdom, Enlightenment, or “Re-awakening” into the divine Science… The symbol of Chnouphis, or the soul of the world, writes Champollion, “is among others that of an enormous serpent standing on human legs; this reptile, the emblem of the good genius, is a veritable Agathodaemon. Chootboglitanical period

A term from Gurdjieff, derived from Russian Чутбогглитанический: “divine source of nature.” Samael Aun Weor sometimes said this word as Choot-God-litanical, which is also accurate, since the Russian portion “bog” means “God.” The term refers to a cosmic event in the ancient past. Gurdjieff explains this in his “All and Everything.”

(Sk.). Literally means “small rhythm” while Mahavan means “large rhythm”. These refer to the rhythms of the Fire of Space, the rhythm of Cosmos.

Materialistic science has only identified forty-six chromosomes as related to physicality (the three dimensional world, the sephirah Malkuth ). Clairvoyance

A term invented by occultists, derived from the French clair “clear,” and voyance “seeing.” Clairvoyance is simply the perception of non-physical imagery, such as imagination. Inferior forms include hallucinations, dreams, daydreaming, fantasy, memory, etc. Superior forms provide perception of other dimensions, free of the limitations of physical spacetime. “There exist clairvoyance and pseudo-clairvoyance. The Gnostic student must make a clear differentiation between these two forms of extrasensory perception. Clairvoyance is based on objectivity. However, pseudo-clairvoyance is based on subjectivity. Understand that by objectivity we mean spiritual reality, the spiritual world. Understand that by subjectivity we mean the physical world, the world of illusion, that which has no reality. Further, there are five types of clairvoyance, as explained in Fundamental Notions of Endocrinology and Criminology . 1. Conscious clairvoyance: to perceive any given phenomenon (whether internal phenomenon related with the psyche and internal worlds or external phenomenon related to the circumstances of the physical world and nature) through the intelligence of the Monad which is essence or Consciousness . Conscious clairvoyance is experienced when one is able to perceive a physical or psychological phenomenon how it really is, in all of its causes and multiple dimensions. 2. Supra-conscious clairvoyance: This is the level of Logoic Consciousness . This is only for those Venerable Masters who finish The Great Work. This level of Consciousness is Turiya, those Masters who have no ego , who have resurrected, and for those who never dream. 3. Subconscious clairvoyance: This is related to the perception of the egos who are related with memories of past experience. These egos are the most superficial egos whose inherent pattern was defined during the formation of the personality (birth to seven years old). These egos can be created at any time in our lives but the pattern is related to the false personality and the PCPF. An example of a subconscious ego is the one who avoids broccoli for their entire lives because they remember the disgust they had when they were forced to eat it by their parents. Remember that subconscious clairvoyance is the way the ego perceives that particular experience; as in the example, it was the way the ego perceives the impression of broccoli and that example. 4. Unconscious clairvoyance: This is the type of perception that develops through the frustration of desires. Pride constantly talks about himself and how great he is because it if frustrated that nobody else talks about him; this is an unconscious habit. Lust becomes frustrated because it was never able to satisfy its sexual desire to fornicate with a particular movie star, etc. This desire becomes frustrated and in the astral plane projects its frustrated desires in the form of sexual dreams with the image/impression of the movie star. 5. Infra-conscious clairvoyance: The deepest aspects of our egos, related to the spheres of Lilith in the Klipoth. Remember that everything in the universe has its antithesis. The antithesis of the angel of love, Anael, is Lilith, the demon of Fornication , black magic and homosexuality. This region is usually only experienced during nightmares. A minority of people bring these egos to the surface, incorporating these elements in action and with the personality. Sadly, this humanity has more and more people who bring the elements of black magic, homosexuality and brutality to the surface of their psychological world.

Cognizance

From Latin cognoscere “to get to know, recognize,” from com- “together” + gnoscere “to know.” “To state that “this is good” or “that is evil” is an easy matter, yet to have cognizance of good and evil is very difficult. Likewise, to state that 2 + 2 is 4 is very easy, yet to have cognizance that 2 + 2 is 4 is a matter that pertains to Gods. “The drunkard knows that drinking alcohol is wrong, yet the drunkard does not have cognizance that drinking alcohol is wrong. If the Consciousness of the drunkard became cognizant that drinking alcohol is wrong, then he would prefer that a millstone be hung about his neck and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea than continue in the vice of alcoholism. “Our Consciousness awakens by means of more elevated levels of the Being and life. Thus, knowledge that does not become cognizance is worthless. Millions of spiritualist students study our books, yet the intellectual knowledge of the written truths alone is worthless, because having cognizance of these truths is what is important. College of Initiates

Collyrium

A solution to wash the eye. Related to Alchemy , one finds the following quote from Basil Valentine (Triumphant Chariot of Antimony): “You titular Doctors, you I speak to, who write long Scroles of Receipts: you Apothecaries, who with your Decoctions fill Pots, no less than Those (in Prince Courst) in which Meat is boiled for the sustentation of some hundreds of men: you, I say, who hitherto have been blind, suffer a Collyrium to be poured into your Eyes, and permit them to be anointed with Balsom, that the most thick skin of Blindness may fall from your Sight, and you behold the Truth, as in a most clear Glass. God grant you Grace, that you may know his wonderful Works, and the Love of your Neighbour be rooted in you, that you may search out true Medicine, which the Ruler of the Heavens hath, by his own omnipotent hand, and his ineffable and eternal Wisdom, from above infused in, impressed on, and communicated to his Noble Creatures, for the Good of Mankind; whence man may find help in his greatest Necessity, and Counsel for Health in his Diseases. Commandments

The Second Law given to Moses, as recorded in Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21. Samael Aun Weor corrects their order and explains their true meaning:

Compassion

The highest and most profound form love, which manifests as wisdom, knowledge, and action. The Egnlish word comes from Latin compati “to feel pity,” and passionem (nominative passio) “suffering, enduring.” In Sanskrit, karuna. In Tibetan, snying rje. In Greek, σπλαγχνίζομαι (splagchnizomai). In Hebrew, rachamim רַחֲמִים, which comes from the root word for “mother” or “womb.”

Comprehension

(Tibetan: go; Sanskrit: jna, “to know.”) “To comprehend is something immediate, direct, something that we vividly undergo intensely, something that we experience very profoundly, and which inevitably becomes the true intimate source of conscious action. To remember or to recollect is something dead, something that belongs to the past, and that unfortunately becomes an ideal, a motto, an idea, an idealism that we want to mechanically imitate and unconsciously follow. In true comprehension, in profound comprehension, in intimate in-depth comprehension, there exists only the intimate pressure of the Consciousness , a persistent pressure born from the Essence that we carry within, and that is all. Comte de St.-Germain

During the early part of the eighteenth century there appeared in the diplomatic circles of Europe the most baffling personality of history—a man whose life was so near a synonym of mystery that the enigma of his true identity was as insolvable to his contemporaries as it has been to later investigators. The Comte de St.-Germain was recognized as the outstanding scholar and linguist of his day. His versatile accomplishments extended from chemistry and history to poetry and music. He played several musical instruments with great skill and among his numerous compositions was a short opera. He was also an artist of rare ability and the remarkably luminous effects which he created on canvas are believed to have been the result of his mixing powdered mother-of-pearl with his pigments. He gained worldwide distinction for his ability to reproduce in his paintings the original luster of the precious stones appearing upon the costumes of his subjects. His linguistic proficiency verged on the supernatural. He spoke German, English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, French with a Piedmontese accent, Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Chinese with such fluency that in every land he visited he was accepted as a native. He was ambidextrous to such a degree that: he could write the same article with both hands simultaneously. When the two pieces of paper were afterwards placed together with a light behind them, the writing on one sheet exactly covered, letter for letter, the writing on the other. As a historian, the Comte de St.-Germain possessed uncanny knowledge of every occurrence of the preceding two thousand years, and in his reminiscences he described in intimate detail events of previous centuries in which he had played important roles. He assisted Mesmer in developing the theory of mesmerism, and in all probability was the actual discoverer of that science. His knowledge of chemistry was so profound that he could remove flaws from diamonds and other precious stones—a feat which he actually performed at the request of Louis XV in 1757. He was also recognized as an art critic without a peer and was often consulted regarding paintings accredited to the great masters. His claim to the possession of the fabled elixir of life was home witness to by Madame de Pompadour, who discovered, she declared, that he had presented a lady of the court with a certain priceless liquid which had had the effect of preserving her youthful vivacity and beauty for over twenty-five years beyond the normal term. The startling accuracy of his prophetic utterances gained for him no small degree of fame. To Marie Antoinette he predicted the fall of the French monarchy, and he was also aware of the unhappy fate of the royal family years before the Revolution actually took place. The crowning evidence, however, of the Comte’s genius was his penetrating grasp of the political situation of Europe and the consummate skill with which he parried the thrusts of his diplomatic adversaries. He was employed by a number of European governments, including the French, as a secret agent, and at all times bore credentials which gave him entrée to the most exclusive circles. In her excellent monograph, The Comte de St.-Germain, the Secret of Kings, Mrs. Cooper-Oakley lists the most important names under which this amazing person masqueraded between the years 1710 and 1822. “During this time,” she writes, “we have M. de St.-Germain as the Marquis de Montferrat, Comte Bellamarre or Aymar at Venice, Chevalier Schoening at Pisa, Chevalier Weldon at Milan and Leipzig, Comte Soltikoff at Genoa and Leghorn, Graf Tzarogy at Schwalbach and Triesdorf, Prinz Ragoczy at Dresden, and Comte de St.-Germain at Paris, The Hague, London, and St. Petersburg.” It is evident that M. de St.-Germain adopted these various names in the interests of the political secret service work which historians have presumed to be the major mission of his life. The Comte de St.-Germain has been described as of medium height, well proportioned in body, and of regular and pleasing features. His complexion was somewhat swarthy and his hair dark, though often shown powdered. He dressed simply, usually in black, but his clothes were well fitting and of the best quality. He had apparently a mania for diamonds, which he wore not only in rings but also in his watch and chain, his snuff box, and upon his buckles. A jeweler once estimated the value of his shoe buckles at 200,000 francs. The Comte is generally depicted as a man in middle life, entirely devoid of wrinkles and free from any physical infirmity. He ate no meat and drank no wine, in fact seldom dined in the presence of any second person. Although he was looked upon as a charlatan and impostor by a few nobles at the French court, Louis XV severely reprimanded a courtier who made a disparaging remark concerning him. The grace and dignity that characterized his conduct, together with his perfect control of every situation, attested the innate refinement and culture of one “to the manner born.” This remarkable person also had the surprising and impressive ability to divine, even to the most minute details, the questions of his inquisitors before they were asked. By something akin to telepathy he was also able to feel when his presence was needed in some distant city or state, and it has even been recorded of him that he had the astonishing habit not only of appearing in his own apartment and in those of friends without resorting to the conventionality of the door but also of departing therefrom in a similar manner. M. de St.-Germain’s travels covered many countries. During the reign of Peter III he was in Russia and between the years 1737 and 1742 in the court of the Shah of Persia as an honored guest. On the subject of his wanderings Una Birch writes: “The travels of the Comte de Saint-Germain covered a long period of years and a great range of countries. From Persia to France and from Calcutta to Rome he was known and respected. Horace Walpole spoke with him in London in 1745; Clive knew him in India in 1756; Madame d’Adhémar alleges that she met him in Paris in 1789, five years after his supposed death; while other persons pretend to have held conversations with him in the early nineteenth century. He was on familiar and intimate terms with the crowned heads of Europe and the honoured friend of many distinguished persons of all nationalities. He is even mentioned in the memoirs and letters of the day, and always as a man of mystery. Frederick the Great, Voltaire, Madame de Pompadour, Rousseau, Chatham, and Walpole, all of whom knew him personally, rivalled each other in curiosity as to his origin. During the many decades in which he was before the world, however, no one succeeded in discovering why he appeared as a Jacobite agent in London, as a conspirator in Petersburg, as an alchemist and connoisseur of pictures in Paris, or as a Russian general at Naples. Now and again the curtain which shrouds his actions is drawn aside, and we are permitted to see him fiddling in the music room at Versailles, gossiping with Horace Walpole in London, sitting in Frederick the Great’s library at Berlin, or conducting illuminist meetings in caverns by the Rhine.” (See The Nineteenth Century, January, 1908.) The Comte de St.-Germain has been generally regarded as an important figure in early activities of the Freemasons. Repeated efforts, however, probably with an ulterior motive, have been made to discredit his Masonic affiliations. An example of this is the account appearing in The Secret Tradition in Freemasonry by Arthur Edward Waite. This author, after making several rather disparaging remarks on the subject, amplifies his article by reproducing an engraving of the wrong Comte de St.-Germain, apparently being unable to distinguish between the great illuminist and the French general. It will yet be established beyond all doubt that the Comte de St.-Germain was both a Mason and a Templar; in fact the memoirs of Cagliostro contain a direct statement of his initiation into the order of the Knights Templars at the hands of St.-Germain. Many of the illustrious personages with whom the Comte de St.-Germain associated were high Masons, and sufficient memoranda have been preserved concerning the discussions which they held to prove that he was a master of Freemasonic lore. It is also reasonably certain that he was connected with the Rosicrucians—possibly having been the actual head of that order. The Comte de St.-Germain was thoroughly conversant with the principles of Oriental esotericism. He practiced the Eastern system of meditation and concentration, upon several occasions having been seen seated with his feet crossed and hands folded in the posture of a Hindu Buddha. He had a retreat in the heart of the Himalayas to which he retired periodically from the world. On one occasion he declared that he would remain in India for eighty-five years and then would return to the scene of his European labors. At various times he admitted that he was obeying the orders of a power higher and greater than himself. What he did not say was that this superior power was the Mystery school which had sent him into the world to accomplish a definite mission. The Comte de St.-Germain and Sir Francis Bacon are the two greatest emissaries sent into the world by the Secret Brotherhood in the last thousand years. E. Francis Udny, a Theosophical writer, is of the belief that the Comte de St.-Germain was not the son of Prince Rákóczy of Transylvania, but because of his age could have been none other than the prince himself, who was known to be of a deep philosophic and mystic nature. The same writer believes the Comte de St.-Germain passed through the “philosophic death” as Francis Bacon in 1626, as François Rákóczy in 1735, and as Comte de St.-Germain in 1784. He also feels that the Comte de St.-Germain was the famous Comte de Gabalis, and as Count Hompesch was the last Grand Master of the Knights of Malta… In concluding an article on the identity of the inscrutable Comte de St.-Germain, Andrew Lang writes: “Did Saint-Germain really die in the palace of Prince Charles of Hesse about 1780-85? Did he, on the other hand, escape from the French prison where Grosley thought he saw him, during the French Revolution? Was he known to Lord Lytton about 1860? Is he the mysterious Muscovite adviser of the Dalai Lama? Who knows? He is a will-o’-the-wisp of the memoir-writers of the eighteenth century.” - Manly P. He presently lives in Tibet, and possesses the same physical body with which he was known during the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries in all the courts of Europe. Concentration

The ability to focus the attention on one thing without distraction. The power of conscious concentration (directed attention) is developed in all genuine spiritual traditions. In Hindu and Buddhist systems, concentration (dharana, shamatha, etc) is noted as a middle step towards real Meditation .

He can hear your speech very clearly. The water is converted into steam and the steam is concentrated at a point. The railway engine moves. All these are instances of concentrated waves. Even so, if you collect the dissipated rays of the mind and focus them at a point, you will have wonderful concentration. The concentrated mind will serve as a potent searchlight to find out the treasures of the soul and attain the supreme wealth of Atman (the Self), eternal bliss, immortality and perennial joy.” —Swami Sivananda

Consciousness

In Universal Gnosticism, the range of potential Consciousness is allegorized in the Ladder of Jacob, upon which the angels ascend and descend. Cosmocreator

An awakened cosmic intelligence capable of creating a planet or sun. An Elohim.

Cosmos

or kosmos. (Greek κόσμος) “Order, good order, orderly arrangement.” A term from Greek philosophy that implies systematic order, but which also carries the implication of “ornamentation, adornment” especially on women. In Gnosis , we use this word to describe the orderly levels by which all existing things are arranged, like ornaments on the body of the Divine. In general use, cosmos refers to any orderly system. Primarily, we study the relationship between two systems:

macrocosm: from makros “large, long” + kosmos, meaning “large orderly system” as a reference the universe around us. microcosm: from mikros “small” + kosmos “world,” a reference to ourselves, since we have an inner universe that is a reflection of the universe

We also study these two in a more elaborated structure: 1. Absolute - Protocosmos 2. All the worlds from all of the clusters of Galaxies - Ayocosmos 3. A Galaxy or group of Suns - Macrocosmos 4. Countertransference

Countertransference is a psychological obstacle that arises when the observer is attached to the observed phenomena. The attachment is an emotional entanglement and prevents the observer from viewing the defect objectively, thus comprehension and elimination become difficult or impossible. The antidote to countertransference is to become aware of the attachment and meditate on it until it dissapates; then one becomes capable of viewing the previous defect objectively.

Covenant

( Hebrew ברית bĕriyth) An agreement, a promise.

Craving

In Buddhism, one of the three poisons of the mind, and one of the three roots of suffering. The Tibetan word dod-chags and the Sanskrit raga can also be translated as attachment or lust.

Cross

One of the most ancient and universally known symbols, visible in the traditions of the Aztecs, Babylonians, Buddhists, Hindus, and many more.

“The four points of the cross symbolize the Fire, the Air, the Water, and the Earth (also Spirit, Matter, Movement, and Repose)… The cross has four points. The cross of initiation is phallic. The insertion of the vertical phallus into the formal cteis forms a cross. Cteis

(Greek κτείς Kteis) Alternatively spelled “ecteis.” Literally, “comb” (of a loom), used for rake, horn, fingers, ribs, scallop, vagina, yoni. “The Cteis was a circular and concave pedestal, or receptacle, on which the Phallus, or column [obelisk] rested. The union of these two, as the generative and producing principles of nature, in one compound figure, was the most usual mode of representation. Here we find the origin of the point within a circle, a symbol which was first adopted by the old sun worshipers. The Compass arranged above the Square symbolizes the (male) Sun, impregnating the passive (female) Earth with its life-producing rays. The true meanings, then are two-fold: the earthly (human) representations are of the man and his phallus, and the woman with her receptive cteis (vagina). The male-female divinities were commonly symbolized by the generative parts of man and woman… The Phallus and Cteis (vagina), emblems of generation and production, and which, as such, appeared in the Mysteries. The Indian Lingam was the union of both, as were the Boat and Mast, and the Point within the Circle. The Cteis was symbolized as the moon. The female personification of the productive principle. Cult

(Latin; CVLTVS, cultus, worship, from colere, to cultivate)

Objectively, it is an exclusive group of awakened people (Initiates) who cultivate and share an esoteric knowledge, usually verified by the superior senses of their Consciousness . “Man know thyself and you will know the universe and its Gods.”

Subjectively , it is a religious, philosophical or scientific system of worship and ritual; in other words, a way of expressing devoted reverence in a religious or non religious (subjective scientific manner, five senses). For example: “Scientific methods or regimen of present epochs cultivate a subjective knowledge about the origin of Man based exclusively on their subjective reasoning (five senses), which is an obsessive, faddish, devotion to a person’s theories or sophisms. The source of such devotion is pride and ignorance. The interpretation of any religious scripture can become extremist or false when interpreted by subjective reasoning (five senses) or without the proper esoteric tools. Cybele

(Greek: Κυβέλη Kybele) A symbol of the Divine Mother Kundalini . Among the Greeks she was known as Rhea, as METER THEON, “Mother of the Gods,” as Μήτηρ (Mētēr “Mother”), and as Μήτηρ Ὀρεία (“Mountain-Mother”). In Roman mythology, her equivalent was Magna Mater or “Great Mother.”

Cynic

From Greek kynikos, literally “dog-like,” from kyon “dog”. Originally, to be a cynic meant to be a follower of Antisthenes, a Greek philosopher, whose “purpose in life was to live in virtue, in agreement with nature. As reasoning creatures, people could gain happiness by rigorous training and by living in a way which was natural for themselves, rejecting all conventional desires for wealth, power, sex and fame. Instead, they were to lead a simple life free from all possessions. […] By the 19th century, emphasis on the negative aspects of Cynic philosophy led to the modern understanding of cynicism to mean a disposition of disbelief in the sincerity or goodness of human motives and actions. [In modern times,] Cynicism is an attitude or state of mind characterized by a general distrust of others’ motives. A cynic may have a general lack of faith or hope in the human species or people motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification, materialism, goals, and opinions that a cynic perceives as vain, unobtainable, or ultimately meaningless and therefore deserving of ridicule or admonishment.” [Wikipedia] In fact, in 2014 scientists found evidence that cynicism leads to dementia : “…people with high levels of cynical distrust were three times more likely to develop dementia…” “Undoubtedly, karma regulates our lives. But we must never protest against karma. There are things that we want to be in a certain way, since they are not as we wish they were. Then we protest against karma, instead of thanking karma. Actually, karma is a medicine, my dear brothers and sisters. Extraordinary medicine! A medicine with which they want to cure us. Then why do we protest against that medicine?
