- What are the Root Races and Subraces?
Ra
( Hebrew רע) Literally “pollution” or “impurity,” with direct implcation of sexual impurity, sexual pollution. רע ra is wrongly translated throughout the Bible as “evil.” Do not confuse with the Egyptian name Ra (see: Re ).
“And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of good and רע [impurity].” - Genesis 2
“And יהוה saw that the רע ra [impurity] of Adam was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only רע ra [impurity] continually.” - Genesis 6:5
“Said Rabbi Jose: “Is not this sin synonymous with what is termed rashang (wickedness or wrongdoing)?” “No,” replied Rabbi Jehuda, “for rashang is applied to intentional evil ere it becomes an actuality, but Ra refers to him who defiles himself by the dissipation of his vital [sexual] powers [through Fornication , abuse of sexual energy] and thus gives himself up to the unclean spirit called Ra . He who thus renders himself impure will never attain unto the Divine Life nor behold the face of the Shekina, whose disappearance from the world previous to the deluge was owing to the vice termed Ra. Woe unto him who indulges in it, for he will never experience the joy of living [Eden] in the presence of the Holy One, but will drag on through life as a degraded captive and miserable slave of Ra, the unclean spirit…” - Zohar
Race
In Gnosis , the term race generally refers stages of development in the history of humanity. See: Root Races. In regards to the variations visible in the current Aryan Root Race, Samael Aun Weor wrote: ” God has no preference for anyone. All human beings without distinction of sex, race, creed or color are beloved children of the Father. They have the same rights… God has no racial prejudice. He loves all his children with infinite love, without distinction of sex, race, creed or color. We must love all human beings. We must give even the last drop of our blood for all our brothers and sisters who belong to this great human family.” - Samael Aun Weor, Igneous Rose
Raja Yoga
(Sanskrit) “Royal Yoga .” Swami Sivananda from his book Raja Yoga : “Raja Yoga is the king of Yogas. It concerns directly with the mind. In this Yoga there is no struggling with Prana or physical body. There are no Hatha Yogic Kriyas. The Yogi seats at ease, watches his mind and silences the bubbling thoughts. He stills the mind, restraints the thought-waves and enters into the thoughtless state or Asamprajnata Samadhi, Hence the name Raja Yoga . Though Raja Yoga is a dualistic philosophy and treats of Prakriti and Purusha, it helps the student in Advaitic Realization of oneness eventually. Though there is the mention of Purusha, ultimately the Purusha becomes identical with Highest Self or Purusha, or Brahman of Upanishads. Raja Yoga pushes the student to the highest rung of the spiritual ladder of Advaitic realization of Brahman.” Patanjali’s Raja Yoga is generally termed the Ashtanga Yoga or the Yoga of Eight Limbs, through the practice of which freedom is achieved. These eight limbs are:
Yama or Eternal Vows: • Ahimsa (non-violence) • Satya (truth) • Asteya (non-stealing) • Brahmacharya (continence) and • Aparigraha (non-avariciousness); Niyama or Observances: • Saucha (purity) • Santosha (contentment) • Tapas (austerities) • Svadhyaya (study) and • Ishvarapranidhana (surrender to God ); Asana (firm, comfortable meditative posture); Pranayama (the regulation of the Vital Force); Pratyahara (abstraction of the senses and mind from objects); Dharana (concentration); Dhyana ( Meditation ); and Samadhi (superconscious state or trance)
“These eight limbs have been scientifically arranged and dealt with. They are the natural steps in the ladder which takes man from his human to the real divine nature. From the gross to the subtle, all the chords that bind the Purusha to Prakriti are cut asunder. This snapping of the ties releases the Purusha to enjoy his Independence, Kaivalya Moksha. This is the goal of Raja Yoga . “Yama and Niyama purify the individual’s actions and make them more Sattvic. Tamas and Rajas which are the pillars of Samsara are pulled down through the practice of the Ten Canons of Yama and Niyama. Inner purity is increased. The individual’s nature itself is made Sattvic. Asana gives the individual control over the Rajasic impulses; and at the same time it forms the foundation of the grand structure of Antaranga Sadhana, or the Inner Yoga -process. Pranayama brings the aspirant face to face with the Life-Principle. Control of this Life-Principle gives him an insight into its motive force. He is made aware of the fact that it is desire that sustains the life-force. Desire is the cause of externalization of the mind. Desire is the bed of Vrittis. Vrittis together form the mind, and it is the mind that links Purusha with Prakriti. The mind or the Chitta is the subtlest form of Prakriti’s manifestations. If mind is to be destroyed, Vrittis are to be eradicated. If Vrittis are to be eradicated, desire is to be rooted out. The Yogi than rapidly withdraws all the rays of the mind from their external propulsion (Pratyahara). To find the root of the mind, the Seed-Desire, he needs the light of the whole mind. At the same time, prevention of the externalization of the mind breaks the vicious circle, as desire is deprived of its active manifestation. This concentrated beam of light is then directed towards the root of the mind itself (Dharana); and the mind is held in check. Now the Consciousness which had so long been flowing outward collects itself and flows back into its source - the Purusha within, which is Dhyana. The link with Prakriti is gone. The Purusha experiences the transcendental state of independence - Kaivalya - in Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Now ignorance is destroyed. The Purusha realizes that it was only His Consciousness that gave Prakriti its power to please Him, to give Him joy, to delude Him, and to bind Him. He enjoys the bliss of His own nature and remains for ever independent and blissful. All thought ceases once for all in Nirvikalpa Samadhi. The seeds of Desire and Vasanas and Samskaras are fried in toto; this is Nirbija Samadhi. The Yogi in this supreme state loses all external Consciousness , all awareness of duality and multiplicity; he loses even the I-idea (Asmita) in Asamprajnata Samadhi. That is the Supreme State where the Seer (Purusha) is established in His own Svarupa. “Do not imagine that you are an Uttama Adhikari and that you have only to sit in Meditation and enter into Samadhi. You will have a terrible downfall. Even after years of practice you will find you have not progressed an inch forward, because there are deep within you lurking desires and cravings, evil Vrittis which are far beyond your reach. Be humble. Make a searching analysis of your heart and mind. Even if you are really a first-class aspirant, think you are an aspirant of the lowest class and practice the eightfold Sadhana prescribed by Raja Yoga . The more time you spend in the first two steps, viz., Yama and Niyama, the less will be the time needed to attain perfection in Meditation . It is the preparation that takes very long. But do not wait for perfection in Yama and Niyama, in order to take up the higher practices of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation . Try to get established in Yama and Niyama, and at the same time practice Asana, Pranayama and Meditation as much as you can. The two must go hand in hand. Then success will be rapid. You will soon enter into Nirvikalpa Samadhi and attain Kaivalya Moksha. What that supreme state is no one has described, and no words can describe. Practice, O bold aspirant, and realize it for yourself. May you shine as a Yogi in this very birth!” —Swami Sivananda from his book Raja Yoga
“The work with the philosophical stone, the eight steps of Yoga , are exclusively for those who respect the principles and laws of the holy eight, and never those of the henchmen of black or gray Tantra .” —Samael Aun Weor
Rajas
One of the three gunas, or qualities of nature. The quality of emotion, energy, craving, attachment, tension, or activity. From the Mahabarata: “Brahma said: I shall now declare to you accurately what the quality of Passion (Rajas) is. Injuring others, beauty, toil, pleasure and pain, cold and heat, lordship (or power), war, peace, arguments, dissatisfaction, endurance, might, valour, pride, wrath, exertion, quarrel, jealousy, desire, malice, battle, the sense of meum or mineness, protection of others, slaughter, bonds, and affliction, buying and selling, lopping off, cutting, piercing and cutting off the coat of mail that another has worn, fierceness, cruelty, vilifying, pointing out the faults of others, thoughts entirely devoted to worldly affairs, anxiety, animosity, reviling of others, false speech, false or vain gifts, hesitancy or doubts, boastfulness of speech, praise and criticisms, laudation, prowess, defiance, attendance (as on the weak and the sick), obedience (to the commands of preceptors and parents), service or ministrations, harbouring of thirst or desire, cleverness or dexterity of conduct, policy heedlessness, contumely, possessions, and diverse decorations that prevail in the world among men, women, animals, inanimate things, houses, grief, incredulousness, vows and regulations, actions with expectation (of good result), diverse acts of public charity, the rites in respect of Swaha salutations, rites of Swadha and Vashat, officiating at the sacrifices of others, imparting of instruction, performance of sacrifices, study, making of gifts, acceptance of gifts, rites of expiation, auspicious acts, the wish to have this and that, affection generated by the merits of the object for which or whom it is felt, treachery, deception, disrespect and respect, theft, killing, desire of concealment, vexation, wakefulness, ostentation, haughtiness, attachment, devotion, contentment, exultation, gambling, indulgence in scandal, all relations arising out of women, attachment to dancing, instrumental music and songs – all these qualities have been said to belong to the quality of Passion (Rajas).”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was an American writer and poet who gave 1,500 public lectures across the United States. He led the way towards mainstream interest in mysticism. A telling statement that summarizes his view: “Philosophically considered, the universe is composed of Nature and the Soul.” When asked to sum up his work, he said his central doctrine was “the infinitude of the private man.” He was mentor and friend to Henry David Thoreau.
“The nearer one can approach his Innermost, the greater is the expression of his teachings for man. Emerson and Carlyle, whom we again mention, for they were of the few who worked from the inner planes, often brought their torch of divinity within other minds.” - M, The Dayspring of Youth
Rama
or Ramachandra. The hero of the Ramayana, a divine incarnation of Vishnu.
A great Master from a previous era.
A symbol of the bodhisattva ( Tiphereth ).
“…the word Rama, which also means sexual enjoyment, is equivalent to the liberator-Brahman, Ra + a + ma…” —Arthur Avalon (Sir John Woodroffe), Shakti and Shâkta [1918]
Ramakrishna
Ramakrishna and his wife Sarada Devi are among the most loved and respected masters from India. Although he was a Hindu priest devoted to Kali, he was also initiated into and fervently practiced Christianity and Islam, living the truth he taught: that all religions come from the same root.
“The Divine Mother always listens to her devotees. In the sacred land of the Vedas, Ramakrishna was one of her greatest devotees.” - Samael Aun Weor, Alchemy and Kabbalah in the Tarot
“According to Indian tradition, Ramakrishna had Sarada Devi sit on the throne of the Divine Mother within the temple. At the same time, he began to sing the hymn to Devi Kundalini with the ancestral ritual ceremony, which culminated in the famous Shorashi Puja, the adoration of woman. He and she achieved samadhi during the Maithuna… In this way one reaches the point of exercising all power over the akashic tattva”. - Samael Aun Weor, The Mystery of the Golden Flower
Raphael
also Rephael, Refael, Refa’el ( Hebrew רְפָאֵל) from the root רפא, which means “heal”, “cure”. The second part is אֵל (el, ” God ”). An important angel in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Read the apocryphal book Tobit.
Raskoano
“The sacred Raskoano (death) is full of inner beauty. The truth about death is only known by the one who has experienced its deep significance.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology
Ratzon-l-Kabel
( Hebrew ) לציון ‘Ratzon’ means ‘desire or will’ and קַבָּלָ ‘Kabel’ means ‘to receive.’
Gnostic Kabbalah explains that there are two types of reasoning (intelligence); one is objective reasoning and the other subjective reasoning. Objective reasoning depends on the use of our will or Ratzon, whereas subjective reasoning depends on the use of our desire. Thus, there are two types of Ratzon: one above (willpower or Tiphereth ) and the other below (desire or Nephesh).
Subjective reasoning develops through the data that we “receive” through the physical senses of the animal soul (Nephesh).
Objective reasoning develops through the data that we “receive” through the superlative Consciousness or spiritual soul of the Being (Neshamah).
Ray of Creation
The light of the Ain Soph Aur, also known as the Okidanokh, Quetzalcoatl, Kulkulcan, Krestos, and Christ. This Ray decends as a lightning bolt, creating and illuminating all the levels of existence. “The proper arrangement of the Ray of Creation is as follows:
- Absolute - Protocosmos 2. All the worlds from all of the clusters of Galaxies - Ayocosmos 3. A Galaxy or group of Suns - Macrocosmos 4. The Sun, Solar System - Deuterocosmos 5. The Earth, or any of the planets - Mesocosmos 6. The Philosophical Earth, Human Being - Microcosmos 7. The Abyss, Hell - Tritocosmos
“The brothers and sisters of the Gnostic Movement must deeply comprehend the esoteric knowledge which we give in this Christmas Message, in order for them to exactly know the place that they occupy in the Ray of Creation.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Elimination of Satan’s Tail To learn more, study this lecture: Omnipenetrating Ray of Okidanokh
Re
(Eqyptian; also Ra, Amun-ra, Amon-ra, Amen-ra) One of the names of the Solar Father in Egyptian mysticism.
“From the Egyptian word Ra came the Coptic Ouro, and the Hebrew Aur, Light.” - Morals and Dogma, by Albert Pike [1871]
Real Being
“Our real Being is the inner Christ. Our real Being is of a universal nature. Our real Being is neither a kind of superior nor inferior “I.” Our real Being is impersonal, universal, divine. He transcends every concept of “I,” me, myself, ego , etc., etc.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Perfect Matrimony
Reasoning
There are two forms of reasoning: Objective and Subjective. “Objective Reasoning was developed before the Greco-Roman period emerged. The primeval Aryans of the first sub-race of the great Aryan Root Race (which flourished in Central Asia) had developed it. The people of the second sub-race (prior to the period of the solar Rishis) possessed it. The Egyptians of the ancient Dynasties of the Pharaohs, the Babylonians, the sages of Afghanistan, Turkestan and Iraq also used it. This type of reasoning practically ended with Greek reasoning. The Greeks were the ones who began to play with words and ended up establishing the Subjective Reasoning based on external sensory perceptions, thus drowning out the Objective Reasoning, eliminating it from the face of the Earth. Since then, humanity only possesses subjective reasoning, external sensory perceptions, the data provided through the five senses.” - The Aquarian Message “(Subjective) Reasoning is one thing and intuition is another. Reasoning only nourishes itself with external sensorial perceptions (by means of the senses it perceives or receives impressions and then produces sensations). Thus, reasoning ends up being negative and limited. The reasoning person believes that he can attain the truth through the struggle of antithesis, but this only divides the mind and incapacitates it to comprehend the truth.” - The Revolution of Beelzebub Objective Reasoning is a power of the Being. “The process of (subjective) reasoning divorces the mind from the Innermost. A mind which is divorced from the Innermost falls into the abyss of black magic. Many times the Innermost gives an order and the mind reveals itself with its reasoning. The Innermost speaks by hunches, thoughts and superlative intuition but the mind reveals by reasoning and comparison. Reasoning is based on opinions, in the struggle of antithetic concepts, in the process of conceptual election, etc. Reasoning divides the mind between the struggles of the antitheses. Antithetic concepts convert the mind into a battlefield. A mind which is divided by the battle of reasoning, by the struggle of antithetic concepts, fractions the understanding and converts the mind into a worthless instrument for the Being, for the Innermost.” - Tarot and Kabbalah
Recapitulation
“The following law in life exists: before initiating its new manifestations, Nature has to recapitulate all of its former manifestations. Therefore, whosoever wants to objectively know all of the evolving processes of humanity has to observe the human fetus from its very conception. Within the maternal womb, the human fetus recapitulates the whole metamorphosis of the human body from its very ancient origins.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of Beelzebub
Recurrence
From recurrere “run back, hasten back, return.” Recurrence is the tendency of desires to return to the circumstances that nourish them.
“Time is round, and everything is repeated, at times in higher spirals, at times in lower spirals. The incessant repetition of the same dramas, the same scenes, the same events in each one of the one hundred and eight lives (that the cosmic law always assigns to every human soul) is interesting and yet simultaneously painful. Each life is a repetition of the previous life plus its good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant karmic consequences. When a man dies, the anguishing moments of his agonizing death, his last moments and realizations, his last sensations and his last fears are all found intimately related with the enjoyments of love that originate his new birth. A new life starts exactly under the same conditions as that of the previous one; clearly, it cannot start in any other way. According with the law of recurrence, when we are reborn again within this valley of tears, the past is converted into the future.” —Samael Aun Weor, The Narrow Way
“The “I” that had a love affair at the age of thirty in a past existence will wait until that age in a new existence in order to manifest itself. When the moment arrives it will search for its dream lover and will telepathically contact the loved one. Finally the reencounter and reenactment of the scene will take place. The “I” that at the age of forty was involved in litigation over property will wait in a new existence until that age in order to repeat the same course of action. The “I” that at the age of twenty-five fought another man in a bar or pub will wait until that age in the new existence in order to seek out his adversary and repeat the tragedy. The “I’s” of one subject seek out those of another through telepathy, then reunite to mechanically repeat the same things. This is actually the mechanism of the law of recurrence. This is the tragedy of life.” —Samael Aun Weor, The Great Rebellion
Red Demons of Seth
(Egyptian) Our own psychological defects as symbolized in the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
Red hat
Samael Aun Weor and Helena Petrovna Blavatsky both warned of a sect of Tibetan mystics known as the “red hats.” This has been taken by many Gnostic and Theosophical students literally, spreading fear of any Tibetan that utilizes a red hat or crown. Later of course, Samael Aun Weor investigated this matter more deeply, and corrected his warning to be directed squarely at those he called “Dugpas,” which, again, literally, could be interpreted as a reference to the Drukpa sect of the Kagyu school, yet Drukpa means “dragon,” is is thus actually referring to those who have awakened as “black dragons,” black magicians. It should be known that three of the four Tibetan Buddhist schools use red hats in their rituals. Even the great master Padmasambava (known as the “second Buddha” by Tibetans) donned a red hat. Therefore, it is clear that the use of a red hat does not automatically denote a follower of black Tantra . The Red Hat Tradition of the Kagyu The term “red hat” in Tibetan is “Shamar.” Shamar-pa or “Red Hat Lama” is a tulku or reincarnated Lama of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism who does indeed wear a red hat as a symbol of his position. Although the majority of Tibetan lamas wear red hats, the name “Shamarpa” means “the red hat” and his entourage and monks are considered “those that follow the red hat.” During the time of the 8th Dalai Lama (1770’s), the Shamarpa was incarnated as the brother of the Panchen Lama, a very high Gelugpa, seen as second only to the Dalai Lama. After the death of the Panchen Lama, his reincarnation was being sought. In the meantime, because he didn’t inherit the wealth left by his late brother the Panchen Lama, the Shamarpa colluded with the Gurkas of Nepal and pretended that he was kidnapped, in order to weasel a ransom which he thought was rightfully his. The 8th Dalai Lama and his Kushog (advisors) saw through this obvious farce and didn’t pay the ransom. Not only did the Shamarpa make it out of Nepal alive, but the Nepalese Gurkas attacked Tibet, killing thousands of monks and lay people. This problem, along with others, was caused by the Shamarpa’s ill will. Because of this, the Dalai Lama banned the reincarnation of the Shamarpa forever. The Lamas of the time took his famous red hat and buried it under the steps to the Jokang Temple so that anyone going to the most powerful temple in Tibet would trample the hat of the Shamarpa. In the 1960’s, the 16th Karmapa asked the Dalai Lama for his permission to once again recognize the Shamar Lama reincarnation. The Dalai Lama, trying to be a good statesman and repair wounds between the Gelugpa and Kagyupa orders, agreed (the Dalai Lama was very young and under tremendous political pressure and ordeals at the time). The current Shamar is the first one to be recognized in two hundred years. The Shamarpa does not look well upon the Dalai Lama or the Gelugpa. The present Shamar Lama is very well known for his direct and in depth connection with the Drukpa Kagyu that live in Bhutan (the Tibetan word for people from Bhutan is Drukpa).
Red Lion
Alchemical symbol of the sacred Fire or “drinkable Gold,” in other words, the Kundalini . “Separate the Red Lion from waste… by kneading…” = white Tantra .
Reflective Ether
One of the four ethers of the Ethereal Body. The reflective ether is intimately related with the faculties of memory, imagination, willpower, etc.
Reincarnation
Genuine re-incarnation is the descent of divinity into a human being. In order for the Innermost, the Spirit, to reincarnate, his Soul needs to build Astral, Mental and Causal Solar Bodies. The incarnation of Christ into a human being is what is called an Avatar. In Hinduism, Vishnu is the Christ, the Solar Logos. This is why in India they say that reincarnation is performed by Vishnu. Krishna spoke about this, by saying: “Only the Devas reincarnate.” “Thus, Reincarnation is a feat accomplished only by the great illuminated souls, in which they consciously choose to be born in a particular time and place; in other words, they chose to incarnate the Being in a new physical body. Only beings with conscious development can do this. “The word reincarnation is most demanding, it must not be used carelessly: No one would be able to reincarnate without first having eliminated the ego , without truly possessing sacred Individuality.Incarnation is a very venerable word, signifying in fact the reembodiment of the Divine in a man.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Mystery of the Golden Blossom
Reish
The twentieth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, it symbolizes “the head.” Reish is solitude, it is fecundity in Sexual Alchemy ; it is the Christified Head, the outcome of the Great Arcanum. Its Kabbalistic value is 200.
Religare
(Latin) From religâre, to bind; from ligâre, to unite in harmony) To re-unite. Root of the term “religion.”
“The soul aspires for the union with his Innermost, and the Innermost aspires for the union with his Glorian.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of Beelzebub
Renunciation
“Mere giving up of objects will not constitute real renunciation. Dear friends, remember this point well. True Tyaga or renunciation consists in renouncing egoism, “I-ness,” “mine-ness,” selfishness, desires and cravings of all sorts.” - Swami Sivananda, How to Get Vairagya “Based on renunciations (each time more incredible), one advances on the path of John.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Doomed Aryan Race “Without pure renunciation, there is no way to end this striving for pleasant results in the ocean of life. It is because of their hankering life as well that beings are fettered, so seek renunciation first. Leisure and fortune are hard to find, life is not long; think it constantly, stop desire for this life. Think over and over how deeds and their fruits never fail, and the cycle’s suffering: stop desire for the future. When you have meditated thus and feel not even a moment’s wish for the good things of cyclic life, and when you begin to think both night and day of achieving freedom, you have found renunciation.” - Tsong Khapa, Three Principal Paths
Representations
“In the practical field of life, a person is an object of the senses. The mental representation or mental image we have of a person is another thing. It is something similar to the difference that exists between a person and her photograph. The person is a person and her photograph is a photograph, and her representation is what it represents. There are mental photos, and the mental photos we may have of that person are one thing and the actual person is another thing. This mental photo comes to be the representation of that person. Psychological aggregates constitute the ego , but representations reflect objects in the world of senses.” - Lecture: Mental Representations
Resurrected Master
A Master who has completed the Second Mountain, thereby eliminating the entirety of their defects, and has resurrected his or her physical body. This type of master has no ego (pride, lust, anger, etc), but still needs to work a lot in order to gain the right to enter into the Absolute. “Every resurrected master has Solar Bodies, but does not have Lunar Bodies. The resurrected masters have powers over fire, air, water and the earth. Resurrected masters can transmute physical lead into physical gold. The resurrected masters govern life and death. They can conserve the physical body for millions of years. They know the quadrature of the circle and the perpetual movement. They have the universal medicine, and speak the very pure language of the Divine Tongue which, like a golden river, flows delightfully through the thick, sunny jungle.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology “The [number of] resurrected masters can be counted on the fingers of the hands. […] Hermes, Cagliostro, Paracelsus, Nicholas Flamel, Quetzalcoatl, St. Germain, Babaji, etc., preserved their physical bodies for thousands, and even millions of years, without death harming them. They are resurrected masters.” - Samael Aun Weor, Alchemy and Kabbalah
Resurrection
The reemergence of the Cosmic Christ within the bodhisattva . Related with the Arcanum Twenty. There are three types of resurrection:
-
Spiritual resurrection
-
Resurrection with the body of liberation
-
Resurrection with the physical body
Return
The word return is used in many ways in this tradition, but with two primary definitions: 1. The process of the soul entering into a new born physical body as determined by karma and circumstance, rather than “by choice” as is popularly imagined. Returning into a physical body as determined by cause and effect (karmic debt) is the norm for all humanoid creatures on this planet, and a mechanical process, not a conscious choice, in spite of popular belief.
“Millions of people speak about the laws of reincarnation and karma, without having directly experienced their deep significance. Really, the lunar ego returns , re-embodies, penetrates into a new womb, but that cannot be called reincarnation ; speaking with precision, we will say that that is “return.” Reincarnation is something else; reincarnation is only for masters, for sacred individuals, for the Twice-born, for those who already possess the Being. The lunar ego returns and, according to the law of recurrence, it repeats in each life the same actions, the same dramas of preceding lives. The spiral line is the line of life and each life is either repeated in a more elevated, evolving spiral, or in a lower, devolving spiral. Each life is a repetition of the past one, plus its good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, consequences. In a resolved and definitive manner, many people descend from life to life on the devolving spiral line, until finally entering the infernal worlds. The one who wants to attain in-depth Self-realization must liberate himself from the vicious circle of the evolving and devolving laws of nature.” Samael Aun Weor, Practical Astrology
Samael Aun Weor wrote an entire book related to this subject: Hell, the Devil, and Karma 2. Return is also related to the twenty-second Arcanum of the Tarot , which is also the Crown of Life. The return to the light is performed through the Venustic Initiations. The soul of every living organism emanates from an atom. This atom is the Ain Soph. Each person has his own Ain Soph. This is a star that shines in infinite space beyond the nine Heavens (nine Sephiroth). Every Soul must return to their Star, to their own Ain Soph. This return towards their Star, the Ain Soph, is a divine event, which is performed by the incarnation of the Truth within us. The day when the soul is Self-realized will be when it has the luxury of returning to its star. This was commented on by Plato in his “TIMEUS.” Each three-brained biped being (intellectual animal) needs to create the solar bodies in order to return to that star. The return towards the Great Light has been initiated. Life has started to flow from the outer towards the inner. We are now faced with the dilemma of, “To be or not to be.” We need to define ourselves as angels or demons , eagles or reptiles. We have to confront our own destiny.
Revolution
In Gnosis , the revolution is the battle of the Consciousness against the ego . This revolution is symbolized in many ways, in many traditions, often as a war (The Mahabarata). This is a revolution against animal instinct, desire, mechanicity and complacency, all of which make up our own mind.
Richard Wagner
“Wagner was a great initiate, an insightful esotericist, an authentic illuminated one…” - Samael Aun Weor, Parsifal Unveiled
Rigpa
(Tibetan) Literally, “knowing.” The Sanskrit equivilent is vidya. Its opposite is avidya, “unknowing, ignorance.” When used as a verb, rigpa means “to be aware, to know.” As a noun it means (1) all conscious experiences (knowledge, Gnosis ), (2) cognizance, (3) the science of Gnosis , (4) pure awareness itself, the very nature of mind. “Unknowing (marigpa) is to not know the main substance of mind. Knowing (rigpa) is to see this basic substance of mind.” - Padamsambhava, The Cycle of Vital Points
River Jordan
A symbol of the affluence of the two superior ethers (Light and Reflective) which relate to the Venustic Initiations, the Path of the bodhisattva .
Rivers of Eden
The rivers of Eden are symbolic (see: Eden ), and carry many levels of meaning. “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.” The land of Havilah is our own physical body, and the gold of this land is the solar atoms from our seminal system, that is to say, the semen ’s potable gold. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. This second river is the cerebrospinal fluid, which is the other pole of our seminal system. With it we encompass the whole land of Ethiopia, that is to say, the whole of our head and throat, since we form the brain and throat with the cerebrospinal fluid. “And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.” (Genesis 2:10-14) The river which goes toward the east of Assyria and the river Euphrates are the two poles of the woman’s seminal system. Therefore, the woman is towards the east of us, because she is the door of Paradise and this door is always towards the east. Eden is sex itself. Thus, the Tree of Life is within Eden itself. The great hierophant Eliphas Levi said that the great magical Arcanum is the Tree of Life and that “at the foot of this Tree is the source of the four mysterious rivers of Eden.” Yet, he fearfully says in a moment of consternation: “Here I must pause, and I fear that already I have said too much.” This is the formidable, unutterable secret which no Initiate has ever dared to reveal. This is the formidable secret of the “Great Arcanum.” The four rivers of Eden are the sexual forces of man and woman. The Tree of Life is in the midst of these four rivers of Eden.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of Beelzebub “The first river corresponds to the element earth of the Wise (the Tattwa Prittwi). The second river corresponds to the element water (Tattwa Apas). The third river corresponds to the element air (Tattwa Vayu). The fourth river is the element fire (Tattwa Tejas).” - Samael Aun Weor, The Aquarian Message “In Genesis, written by Moses, the four rivers of Eden are mentioned, the four rivers of milk. These four are the flaming fire, the pure water of life, the impetuous air, and the perfumed elemental earth of the sages (the four tattvas).” - Samael Aun Weor, The Perfect Matrimony
Root Races
“Every planet develops seven Root Races and seven Subraces. Our planet Earth already developed five Root Races; it needs to develop two more Root Races. After the seven Root Races, the planet Earth, already transformed by cataclysms over the course of millions of years, will become a new moon.” - The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries The seven Root Races of this planet Earth are: Polar protoplasmatic Hyperborean Lemurian Atlantean Aryan (present) Koradi (future) (Seventh) (future) Each Root Race has seven subraces. The seven subraces of our present-day Aryan Root Race have developed in these primary areas: Central Asia India, South Asia Babylon, Chaldea, Egypt Greece, Rome Anglo-Saxon, Teutonic Latin America United States & Canada
Rosicrucian Order
A lodge in the internal worlds whose members are all Resurrected Masters. The groups in the physical world who call themselves Rosicrucian have absolutely no affiliation with the True Order. In particular, Samael Aun Weor indicates repeatedly in many books that the school of A.M.O.R.C. (based in California) has nothing to do with the true Order. See The Revolution of Beelzebub by Samael Aun Weor for more information.
“The order of the Logos, the true Rosicross, does not have a visible or tangible organization in the physical world, it does not have a physical temple; this only exists in the superior worlds. The brethren of the Rosicrucian Order who have physical bodies here in this tridimensional world are all of them Resurrected Masters. They are Resurrected Masters who already incarnated the Christ. Those from distinct schools and orders in this physical world who denominate themselves Rosicrucian are false. The true Rosicrucian Order that the Logos has established upon the face of the Earth does not have any visible organization, it does not dictate courses by correspondence, nor does it collect fees, nor does it have juridical personality, nor does it have internal or external statutes. Their members are not even acquainted with each other in this physical world. They might be acquainted with each other in the superior worlds, yet in this physical world they very seldom, very seldom encounter each other.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries
Ruach
Also ruwach ( Hebrew רוח means spirit, wind, or breath)
“And the רוח (Spirit) of אלהים (Elohiym, God ) moved upon the face of the waters.” - Genesis 1:2
In Kabbalah , Ruach also refers to one the three souls of the human being. Ruach is called the Thinking Soul.
“Who knoweth the רוח of the sons of man that is going up on high, and the רוח of the beast that is going down below to the earth?” - Ecclesiastes 3:21
“The thinking emotional soul (ruach) is inserted within the lunar bodies of desire.” - Samael Aun Weor, Tarot and Kabbalah
“The Initiate must descend into the infernal worlds for forty-days and has to recapitulate all of the evil deeds and frightful dramas of his past incarnations; little by little, the Initiate departs from these tenebrous regions. Before departing, the three souls (Nephesh, Ruach and Neshamah) are submitted to ordeals. How interesting it is to see the animal soul submitted to ordeals, as well as the thinking soul and the Essence (fraction of Neshamah) that also is submitted to ordeals.” - Samael Aun Weor
Rudolf Steiner
“…great Hungarian medic, born in 1861, friend and disciple of Nietzsche and Ernest Hegel, and the founder of the Anthroposophical Society.” —Samael Aun Weor, Tarot and Kabbalah
“Unquestionably, at the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth century, many respectable, knowledgeable, occultist intelligences transmitted unto humanity a simple, elementary teaching. It is clear that such persons only proposed to publicly teach the first letters of the secret doctrine. At that time, they did not linger too much in the analysis of the evolving and devolving laws. Rudolf Steiner already affirmed, in 1912, that they, the initiates of that epoch, had only delivered an incipient, elementary knowledge, but that much later, a superior esoteric doctrine of transcendental nature would be given unto humanity. Now, we are delivering this type of superior esoteric doctrine. It is therefore indispensable to not condemn or criticize those who in the past worked in some way for humanity. They did what they could; now we must elucidate and clarify.” —Samael Aun Weor, Hell, the Devil, and Karma
“The powerful illuminated clairvoyant, eminent intellectual, founder of the Anthroposophic Society, Dr. Rudolf Steiner… The work of Rudolf Steiner is grandiose. His books are wells of profound wisdom… Steiner was a true Rosicrucian Gnostic.” —Samael Aun Weor, Sexology
Rupa
(Sanskrit, “form”) One of the five skandhas or aggregates. Related to the four elements: fire, air, water, and earth.
What are the Root Races and Subraces?
The following is an outline for reference while studying the history of the humanities that have lived upon this planet. Regarding the veracity of the following information, we remind the reader of what Blavatsky pointed observed:
“In our own day we witness the stupendous fact that such comparatively recent personages as Shakespeare and William Tell are all but denied, an attempt being made to show one to be a nom de plume, and the other a person who never existed. What wonder then, that the two powerful races — the Lemurians and the Atlanteans — have been merged into and identified, in time, with a few half mythical peoples, who all bore the same patronymic?” - The Secret Doctrine
Therefore, let us remember that our “official” history is no more a series of facts than the daily newspaper: and we know that the newspaper is nothing but manipulated opinions. Just so with modern science: it is all based on supposition and a few decayed bones. In fact, scientists are now admitting that their theories about our origins are not accurate.
“…our emergence as a distinct species cannot, based on the current evidence, be conclusively traced to a single location at any single point in time… Contrary to what many believe, neither the genetic or fossil record have so far revealed a defined time and place for the origin of our species,” - geneticist Pontus Skoglund of The Francis Crick Institute in the UK. “Such a point in time, when the majority of our ancestry was found in a small geographic region and the traits we associate with our species appeared, may not have existed. For now, it would be useful to move away from the idea of a single time and place of origin.” “…our species diverged from archaic ancestors sometime between a million and 300,000 years ago (by which time nine distinct human species populated the planet).” ( https://www.sciencealert.com/the-origin-of-modern-humans-cannot-be-traced-to-any-one-single-point )
Scientists now admit what the Secret Doctrine has always said. They have more to learn. Cosmic Days and Nights Creation unfolds as a series of epochs. For each epoch there is a day and a night. During your life, you experience day and night. Similarly, from a higher point of view, your entire life is one day: death is the entrance into night. After night passes, a new day arrives: a new existence. The same is true of the worlds. And the scalable view also applies: for a planet has its days and night, and its lives… Related to this humanity, there are have been many days and nights. We are now in the middle of a Great Cosmic Day (Sanskrit: Mahamanvantara). We are in the fourth day, or fourth manvantara (period of time) or epoch. There are seven cycles or rounds within each day. But within this fourth round, there are smaller measurements to be made. For this current humanity is the fifth Root Race to exist on this Earth. There have been other races, but only traces of them remain. Traces on Easter Island, in Egypt, in Mexico…
Root Races of the Fourth Terrestrial Round
Polar Race The first Root Race of this terrestrial humanity. “The Aztecs state that the human beings of the first Root Race were extraordinary, dark-colored giants. This was a very civilized, androgynous, asexual, semi-physical, semi-ethereal Root Race. Their individuals could reduce their height to the size of an average person of this present Aryan Root Race. Their rituals as well as their wisdom were portentous. Barbarism did not exist in their epoch; this Root Race was devoured by the Tigers of Wisdom. The regent of the first Root Race was the God Tezcatlipoca. Each individual was a Master of Wisdom. Their reproduction system was effectuated by means of the fissiparous act; this is a system similar to that which organic cells use for reproduction, which is the process of cellular division. This is how the organism of the father-mother was divided into two, and the androgynous child was fastened to the father-mother for awhile. The first Root Race lived on the Sacred Island situated in the north polar cap. That island still exists, yet it is in a Jinn state within the fourth vertical.” - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries Hyberborean Race A nation mentioned in Greek mythology. The name means “beyond the North Wind,” thus they are supposed to have been somewhere north of Greece, but the name also means “beyond the mountains” and “those who carry (merchandise) across.” Apollo was said to spend the winter months among them, and his mother Leto was presumed to have been born in their land. Perseus went there searching for the Gorgon, and Heracles chased the Cerynitian hind to their country. The writer Pindar represented them as a blessed people untouched by human afflictions. H. P. Blavatsky places their country around the North Pole, saying it was “The Land of the Eternal Sun,” beyond Boreas, the God of Winter. She asserts that this land was of a near tropical climate. In Universal Gnosticism, they are known to be the Second Root Race of this Terrestrial Humanity. The second Root Race was governed by Quetzalcoatl; this was the Hyperborean humanity. The degenerated people of the second Root Race converted themselves into monkeys; these are the ancestors of present monkeys. They reproduced themselves by budding, such as the plants do: from their trunk sprout many branches. They were wiped out by strong hurricanes. - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries
Lemurian Race
The third Root Race was the Lemurian race, which inhabited Mu, which today is the Pacific Ocean. They perished by fire raining from the sun (volcanoes and earthquakes). This Root Race was governed by the Aztec God Tlaloc. Their reproduction was by means of gemmation. Lemuria was a very extensive continent. The Lemurians who degenerated had, afterwards, faces similar to birds; this is why some savages, when remembering tradition, adorned their heads with feathers. - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries
Atlantean Race
The Atlanteans, who had bodies which were three meters in stature, created a very powerful civilization. The Atlantean continent was immense; it extended from the south to the north, from the Austral region to the Septentrional. This Atlantean Root Race had its four seasons, or ages. During their spring or Golden Age, borders and passports were unnecessary. Frontiers did not exist, and everywhere there was love among humanity. Innocence reigned upon the face of the earth. One who knew how to play the lyre could shake the universe with its melodies. At that time, the lyre had yet to be smashed into pieces by falling upon the floor of the temple. This was because the Solar Dynasties were still governing. As the Age of Silver arrived, everything from the Golden Age diminished. However, human beings were still in communication with the ineffable beings who are known in Christianity as Angels, Archangels, Principates, Thrones, etc. When the Age of Copper arrived, the radiant splendors of the Golden and Silver Ages became dark. The same splendors of the past did not exist. People started to establish frontiers, wars were begun, hatred was born, as well as selfishness, envy, greed, etc. Finally the Age of Iron, the Black Age, arrived. Obviously, the Age of Copper was the autumn, and the Age of Iron was the winter of the Atlantean Root Race. During the Age of Iron, the Atlanteans developed a very powerful, materialistic science… The Atlanteans had degenerated a great deal and had now started using their awesome powers for evil and anthropophagi. Their magical science became black and with these changes came horrible devices. The Atlanteans could now create a mental monster that could crystallize into existence through their willpower. This monster needed blood as food to stay alive. The last days of Atlantis were both frightening and apocalyptic. Their beautiful cities were destroyed by their atomic wars, and finally the solar system had completed its voyage around the zodiacal belt. When this happened, there was a great disturbance in the axis of the earth. The oceans were completely displaced through the changing of their beds. The cold points of the Earth that we refer to as the poles were converted into the Equator, and the Equator into the poles. Millions of people perished and all of the powerful cities of Atlantis submerged within the ocean that now bears its name. - Samael Aun Weor, The Aquarian Message
Aryan Race
Quoted from Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary: “From Sanskrit [=a]rya excellent, honorable; akin to the name of the country Iran, and perh. to Erin, Ireland, and the early name of this people, at least in Asia. 1. One of a primitive people supposed to have lived in prehistoric times, in Central Asia, east of the Caspian Sea, and north of the Hindoo Koosh and Paropamisan Mountains, and to have been the stock from which sprang the Hindoo, Persian, Greek, Latin, Celtic, Teutonic, Slavonic, and other races; one of that ethnological division of mankind called also Indo-European or Indo-Germanic.”
In esotericism, this term “Aryan Race” refers to the vast majority of the popluation of this planet, and is noted for its close relationship with Ares or Mars, the God of War. The Aryan race, the fifth great race to exist on this planet, is under the guidance of Ares, Mars, the Fifth of the “Seven Spirits before the Throne of God.” The Aryans are not limited to blonde-haired white-skinned people, but include almost all the people on the planet. Through the course of its development, the Aryan race has had seven subraces. These are also not based on skin-color. The seven subraces only indicate times and regions where the conscious circle of humanity was focused on activity for the benefit of humanity, such as the development of something new or necessary. Obviously, there is always activity elsewhere in the world, and amongst all people, regardless of color, culture, or religion. So for instance, right now during the seventh subrace, the primary new development is happening in North America, but there continues to be great activity worldwide, and all of it is concerned with all people, not just North Americans.
Every Root Race has seven Subraces. The seed of our Aryan Root Race is Nordic, but when the Nordics mixed themselves with the Atlantean survivors, they gave origin onto the Subraces of the Aryan trunk. First Subrace: It flourished in central Asia, in those now vanished kingdoms of central Asia, and whose ruins still exist in the Himalayas around the country of Tibet. Powerful spiritual civilizations of the first Aryan Subrace existed in those regions. Second Subrace: It flourished in India and the entire south of Asia. In Pearland, the sacred land of the Vedas, in the ancient Hindustan, where the second Aryan Subrace developed, formidable esoteric cultures and tremendous civilizations existed. Third Subrace: It created powerful civilizations. Babylon, Chaldea, Egypt, etc., etc. were the scenario of very rich and powerful civilizations created by the third Aryan Subrace. Fourth Subrace: It developed in Rome, Greece, Italy, and Athens, the great city founded by the Goddess Athena. Before their degeneration and destruction, Greece and Italy were marvelous scenarios where the powerful civilizations of the fourth Aryan Subrace developed. Fifth Subrace: Are the Anglo-Saxon and Teutonic. The First and Second World Wars, with all of their barbarism and moral corruption, point with their accusatory fingers to the men and women of the fifth Aryan Subrace. Sixth Subrace: The mixture of the Spanish Conquistadors with the Native-American tribes. The effort to form the sixth Subrace in the redskin territory was very difficult, because the English Conquistadors destroyed them; they assassinated them, instead of mixing themselves with the natives. Only in a very insignificant and incipient way was the mixture of blood performed. This is why the Occult Fraternity saw the necessity of converting the North American territory into a melting crucible of races. So, the formation of the sixth Subrace in the United States had enormous difficulties; there, all the races of the world have mixed. The sixth Subrace in Latin America was formed very easily and this is something that must not be ignored by the treatisers of anthropogenesis and occultism. Seventh Subrace: The survivors of the new great cataclysm that soon will destroy this Aryan Root Race will be formed by the survivors of the Seventh Subrace; they still do not exist, but they will. So, this Aryan Root Race, instead of evolving, has devolved, and its corruption is now worse than that of the Atlanteans in their epoch. Its wickedness is so great that it has reached unto heaven. - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries
